So Elon finally took away my blue check which kinda kills any remaining use I had for Twitter. I just published my first note on Substack Notes, come on over and let’s chat … maybe about how last night’s Ted Lasso episode was just a lovely piece of streaming television and if you don’t think so you are wrong.
Notes is a new space on Substack for us to share links, short posts, quotes, photos, and more. I plan to use it for things that don’t fit in the newsletter, like work-in-progress or quick questions, you know, like tweets. But not.
Why does “may or may not be notable” still make me laugh...seems unnecessarily mean but also get over yourself.
Why Substack Notes
Look sometimes I have an idea or an observation I want to share that doesn’t really warrant an entire newsletter, and I like getting and giving feedback. Eventually I’d love to turn this into a way to make a little extra scratch, but I also like the idea of just having chats about things with people I liked chatting with on Twitter, and not having it feel transactional (also lol another side hustle sure why not). In any case, whatever I end up doing with this newsletter, I promise I’ll always have a free version.
As I told my good friend Bobby, author of
(which you also should subscribe to):I do this thing where if I don’t have enough published work to write about in the newsletter I feel like I shouldn’t bother but then when I am publishing a lot I am too busy to newsletter so
Whatever, I have to stop putting up imaginary barriers for myself.
How to join
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app. As a subscriber to not quite verbatim, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around!
You can also share notes of your own. I hope this becomes a space where every reader of not quite verbatim can share thoughts, ideas, and interesting quotes from the things we're reading on Substack and beyond.
If you encounter any issues, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance.
Come on, then…
It was lovely streaming vid. Maybe a little too sweet? But If Boat Guy does not return as part of at least a short arc, I will lose faith in this show. (I will still watch but will be annoyed as I do.)
